Council OKs Streetlights

Published on

The Town of Magrath will soon be brighter with the addition of 33 new street lights.

In the east and west ends of town, street lights average two per block.  This will soon change.

The town has decided to install street lights along the blocks were there is very little light.

The newly developed areas along the east and west sides of Magrath are in dire need of new lighting, councillors agreed.

More lights will be placed along inner streets in the residential area on the east side and the average number of lights will be two more per block.

The cost of the new lights runs around $12,000 to install and $3,000 operating cost.

EMS staff receive pins

Member's of the Magrath and District Ambulance Service recently received pins for five and ten years of service.

The pins and congratulations were presented by Mayor David Lowry at the Magrath Fire Hall training room.

Five-year recipients were Ferrin Killian and Terry Trainer.  10-year service pins outnumbered the five-years.  Ken Hoibak, Judy Hoibak, Craig Bennett and Clayton Boodry all received 10-year pins.
